Burning Sensations in Feet

According to herbalists, thyme can help treat burning sensations in your feet. It helps promote blood circulation and can even ease constricted blood vessels. This in turn will relieve burning sensation. It can also be used to treat burning sensations due to athlete’s foot as thyme has antimicrobial properties.
  1. Soak a handful of thyme in two bowls.
  2. Fill one foot tub with hot water and another tub with cold water.
  3. In each tub, add the soaked thyme along with the water from the bowl.
  4. Soak your feet in the hot water tub for three to five minutes and then switch to the cold water tub for a few minutes.
  5. Go back and forth like this for about 20 minutes.
  6. Follow this remedy once daily.

8. Vitamin B3


  • Try to walk barefoot through soft grass or sand for a few minutes when you have a burning sensation. This will ease the symptoms quickly.
  • Exercises like jogging and running must be done on a regular basis. These are excellent for 
  • increasing the circulation to the entire body.
Additional Tips
  • Always wear proper fitting and comfortable footwear.
  • Do not wear shoes without socks.
  • Rest your feet as often as possible and elevate your feet while resting.
  • Avoid taking narcotics and drinking alcohol.
  • Use insoles, pads or inserts in your footwear to ensure proper support.
  • Eat more foods that have essential fatty acids or take fish oil supplements.
  • Try acupuncture or magnetic therapy to help relieve burning sensations in your feet. Gently massaging your feet with some oil is another great way to relieve the discomfort associated with burning feet. Massage has a soothing effect and helps increase blood circulation in the feet.
  • Warm some olive, coconut or mustard oil.
  • Apply the oil on the affected area.
  • Massage using upward strokes with firm fingers for at least 10 minutes.
  • Do this daily before going to bed and in the early morning to ensure proper circulation.

    Cold Water

    Cold water is one of the best home remedies for burning feet. The cool water provides quick relief from the tingling, numbness and swelling of the feet.
  • Fill a foot tub with cold water.
  • Soak your feet in it for a few minutes.
  • Give your feet some rest and then soak again.
  • Repeat several times a day.
Do not soak your feet in cold water for more than a few minutes as it can worsen the symptoms. Also, do not apply ice or an ice pack directly on your feet.
Note: Cold water immersions are often advised against in case of erythromelalgia as it may cause reactive flaring and may further lead to maceration of the skin, non-healing ulcers and other problems.
  • Turmeric

    Turmeric contains a good amount of the compound known as cucumin, which helps improve blood flow and circulation throughout your body. Plus, turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce burning sensations as well as pain in the feet.
  • Mix one to two teaspoons of turmeric in a glass of warm water and drink it. Do this twice daily for best results.
  • You can also prepare a paste of two tablespoons of turmeric and enough water and apply it on the affected area once or twice a day for a few days. But, bear in mind that this remedy can stain your feet
  • Bitter Gourd


    • Grind a handful of bitter gourd leaves with a little water until you get a smooth paste.
    • Apply this paste on the affected area and soon the burning sensation will reduce.
    • Repeat as needed.

    Ginger

    Ginger is another effective remedy for burning sensations in your feet. Several active components in ginger help increase blood circulation in the body, which in turn brings quick relief from the burning sensations.
  • Mix one teaspoon of ginger juice with some warm coconut oil or olive oil. Massage your feet and legs with this mixture for 10 to 15 minutes once daily.
  • Alternatively, you can drink two to three cups of ginger tea daily. You can even try a warm ginger tea soak to lessen swelling and pain.
These home remedies and tips may help alleviate discomfort, but it’s recommended to consult a doctor to determine the underlying cause and make sure the problem is treated properly.
